His accolades include two National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of Indian cinema and arts.

Ashutosh Gowariker is an Indian film director, actor, screenwriter and producer who works in Hindi cinema. He is particularly known for 'Lagaan' (2001), 'Swades' (2004), 'Jodhaa Akbar' (2008), and 'Mohenjo Daro' (2016). His film 'Lagaan' was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category in 74th Academy Awards, which makes him a voting member of the Academy Awards. Vipul Amrutlal Shah is a film producer and director of Hindi films. He began his career with Gujarati theater. He was part/director of a number of Gujarati dramas, some of which were well received by Gujarati audience. He made his debut with Gujarati film 'Dariya-Chhoru' (means children of ocean) in late 90s, with JD Majethia in main lead. As of 2010, he has directed six Hindi films, four of which have starred Akshay Kumar.
